Course description:

Join over 1,230 happy students in this hands-on Sketch 3 course!

When you watch the promo video above you’ll see exactly what you will be able to design when you have completed this course.

You’ll learn how to use Sketch 3, and the online tool InVision, to bring an application design from your head onto the screen and finally onto your smartphone where you can show your friends or clients.

This course was created with non-designers in mind. If you are new to Sketch you will learn everything you need to know to design application interfaces in Sketch 3.

We cover some basic documentation, like User Stories and Flow Diagrams, so you can confidently go onto the design stage knowing that you have a fully fleshed out idea of what your application will do. We also cover some color theory to help you make the right color choices the first time and end up with a good looking product.

This course’s instructor has taught college level web design and computer animation courses and he brings all that experience to this course. The high definition videos are clear, concise and professionally edited.

If you are a student, entrepreneur or just someone who wants to design an application for fun, sign up for the course today and make your application design dreams a reality.

Reviews:

“Learned a lot from this course. Great job” (John Pascal)

“Great introductory course to get a quick start on using Sketch and Invision. Short and to the point but very easy to follow. Exactly what I was looking for!” (Ernie Ayon)

“Excellent course! I enjoyed going through this set of lectures and exercises to learn Sketch. Richard knows his stuff and presents information in a manner that doesn’t dumb it down or skip over important information.
Richard quickly covers that boring novice foundation (“here’s the tool bar for X and here’s how we import Y”) that’s found in every design program (Adobe AfterEffects anyone?). He shows you tools and tricks just enough to give you an understanding but doesn’t drone on about them. You start designing a mobile application right away – one that has practical use.
In the app development process, Richard has met with the client and he briefs you on the assignment. He leads you through a quick requirements discussion. You determine content, layout, colors and graphics. He shows you how to create a workflow diagram which informs the wireframes for the app itself. You see how to import your final mockups into InVision and how to link up the various interactivity for demoing or usability testing.
The instruction is so clear and well-written that I found myself only having to refer back to a previous video once.
As a UX practitioner currently moving away from Axure RP Pro, I highly recommend you learn Sketch and you take this course to do it.” (Allison Cameron)

About Instructor:

Richard Coy

About Me
I’ve been a tech entrepreneur since I first logged onto the internet using AOL in 1996. I fell in love immediately with technology and the opportunities it provides to learn and do business.
Since then I have branched off into many areas:
Teaching
I’ve taught college level courses in web design and animation at a local college. I love watching the students learn and the “ah-ha” moments when something clicks. When they walk out of the classroom knowing something new there is a sense of accomplishment and I like being a part of that.
Web Design
I have built many websites for clients over the years. Some in straight HTML/CSS but many more in WordPress. I’ve created themes and custom plugins. I like WordPress for my clients because it makes it easy for them to maintain and update the content on their own sites. I think they like it for that reason also! 🙂
App Design
I’ve built eight games for iOS devices using a game engine called Game Salad. I enjoy making games and may even create a course for Udemy if the interest is there.
UX Design
In December 2015 I went through the UX Certification process with Nielsen Norman Group. I received certification after completing a series of five tests. I find the User Experience process very interesting and love how the final product is so much more polished when the UX work has been done.
How I Teach
My courses are very high quality. Some instructors try to crank out a course in a few days. I don’t think that does justice to the process of learning, or honor the student. My courses are all HD and great care is put into the audio and video quality. Each course is step-by-step so that you can implement them right away. They take effort and commitment on the part of the student but the learning that is accomplished can reap a lifetime of rewards.
I try to respond to all student questions within one work day, often a lot less. If you ask a question on a Saturday or Sunday it may be Monday before you hear from me but I will reply if a reply is in order.
Thanks for taking the time to read my bio. The fact you are reading this is a sign that you are serious about the courses you take and I look forward to helping you reach your learning goals.
